Pushing the fear aside, you scuffle and crawl through the hole. It is a tight squeeze; your arms are forced against your ribs, pressed in by the stone walls. You wiggle like a caterpillar toward the light.
What a relief! You fill your lungs with air as you clear the tunnel on the other side, standing to your feet.
The blinking red light ahead is the only thing you can see. It is quite strange that it doesn’t seem to shed any light on anything else. Other than the blinking red, there is nothing but deep blackness.
Placing your hands against the ground, you feel your way forward. It comes to an abrupt end only a few feet ahead. You reach down and feel nothing solid below you.
It looks as though this is a trap.
Yet, you just saw a shadowy figure run in front of the light and to the right. Does that mean there is solid ground on the other side? It didn’t look too far away. Perhaps you can make it.
